What Are Cannabinoids

  • Cannabinoids, are a class of diverse chemical compounds, that affect the body and mind through their interaction with cannabinoid receptors. Cannabis, a.k.a. marijuana, contain 100+ different cannabinoids.
  • At present, there are two known types of cannabinoid receptors, termed CB1 and CB2, with mounting evidence of more. CB1 receptors are located primarily in the head, and CB2 receptors are located primarily in the immune system.
  • The two cannabinoids which are most abundant in cannabis, and show great medicinal benefits are THC and CBD. Although, in order for CBD to function at the maximum potential, it is best that it work in conjunction with THC; this is known as the entourage effect.
  • CBD oil that does not contain THC is not nearly as effective as if it does, even if the THC is at a low percentage. THC has 3x the pain relief as compared to CBD.
